Peter Power is a staff photographer at Canada's National Newspaper - The Globe and Mail - where he began work in March of 2007.
Prior to this he was a staff photographer for nearly 17 years at Canada's largest circulation daily The Toronto Star.
Since 1987, Peter has covered local, national, and international news, sports, and feature stories during a career that has been rewarded with countless memories, friendships, experiences, memorable images, and numerous awards.
His work has been recognized by the NPPA, NPAC, POYi, the SND and others. He has been named Photographer of the Year on five occasions, has won three Canadian National Newspaper Awards (has been nominated six times) and has won the prestigious Governor General's Michener Award for Public Service Journalism, for the Toronto Star, while teamed with three reporters. With his multimedia work he has been a Webby Award Honoree and Finalist, a POYi winner, and an NPAC POY winner.
Peter also holds a position on the Advisory Committee of the Photojournalism Program at Loyalist College in Belleville, and participates in the Mentorship Program of the News Photographers Association of Canada and the National Press Photographers Association
