Hunter Dave Ankney

Long-time hunter Dave Ankney, 64, is a hunter and retired professor from The University of Western Ontario in wildlife management and ornithology. He was among the group who spearheaded the release of wild turkeys back into Ontario in 1984. He is photographed with his hunting dogs near his home at Long Point Beach, Ontario on October 8, 2010. He says that in three releases of just over 200 wild turkeys in total in 1984 there are now as many as 100,000 wild turkeys throughout Ontario. (Photo by Peter Power/The Globe and Mail)
