For more than three decades, I’ve been telling stories through images. My career began in photojournalism, where I worked on assignments across Canada and around the world, documenting people and moments that demanded care, honesty, and respect. Those years shaped my approach to visual work - and they continue to guide me today.
As an independent photographer and videographer, I collaborate with organizations of all sizes to create thoughtful, human-centred stories. Whether working with corporate clients, hospitals, agencies, or editorial partners, I bring the same principles that anchored my journalism: listen closely, observe patiently, and make images that feel true. I’m drawn to quiet gestures, authentic expression, and the small details that reveal something meaningful about a person or place. Clients often tell me they appreciate my calm presence and sensitivity - qualities that help people relax, open up, and feel seen.
Alongside my commissioned work, I continue to photograph the natural world. My fine art prints are an extension of my relationship with the outdoors - a place that has always offered balance, perspective, and connection. Creating these images has become a personal part of my journey, and sharing them allows me to invite others into the landscapes and moments that have shaped me.
No matter the assignment, my goal is simple: to create visual work with intention, integrity, and a genuine respect for the people and stories in front of my lens.
Awards & Recognition
Over the course of my career, I’ve been fortunate to have my work recognized through multiple Photographer of the Year honours, four Canadian National Newspaper Awards (with nine nominations), and the Governor General’s Michener Award for Public Service Journalism. Recognition has also come from organizations such as the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA), News Photographers Association of Canada (NPAC), Pictures of the Year International (POYi), and the Society for News Design (SND). My multimedia work - combining video and still photography - has been recognized internationally as a Webby Award Honoree on three occasions, a Webby Award Finalist, a POYi winner, and an NPAC Photographer of the Year.
When working with corporate and organizational clients, the focus is always on uncovering stories that feel honest and relevant. A broad visual skill set allows me to support clearer communication, strengthen brand identity, and help organizations connect more meaningfully with their audiences through photography and video.
Today, I collaborate with a wide range of commercial and editorial partners, producing consistently high-quality, narrative-driven work on location. Clients include agencies, small businesses, educational institutions, health-care organizations, professional services, manufacturers, and media outlets such as Porter Novelli Canada, AFP FactStory, Cleveland Clinic, Pine River Institute, Mercedes-Benz Canada, St. Joseph’s Health System, CAMH, Kids Help Phone, Canadian Geographic, The Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, The Canadian Press, and Associated Press Images.
Alongside my professional work, I’ve also taught visual journalism at both Humber College and Mohawk College; experiences that continue to shape how I think about storytelling, ethics, and craft. I regularly conduct one-on-one remote coaching sessions, working with photographers and visual storytellers at different stages of their careers. I also lead storytelling workshops, both independently and in partnership with First Capture Education, focused on helping others develop their skills and creative confidence so they can own their stories and present them in visually engaging, professional ways.
